Organic black tea with a very subtle taste
This black tea from Japan is coming from the Island of Yakushima, which is a volcanic place considered as a World Heritage by the UNESCO. This tea is coming from the Benihomare Cultivar, which is the fruit of a selection of Indian tea trees. Its creation comes back to 1953 and its yield is rather poor. Due to its Indian origins, this cultivar aims above all at producing a black tea offering a deep red cup and a strong astringency.
This tea offers a beautiful golden cup. The 12 hours drying allows an oxidation that gives this tea a special tannin. The leaves are afterwards rolled under a strong pressure, which gives the tea a good balance of the aromas. Then, the fermentation is done at 30 degrees in order to remove 90% of the humidity contained in the leaves. Then the drying is done at 75 degrees in an airy room. The selection of leaves is done manually, which allows to obtain a perfectly balanced tea.
